PPC ADVERTISING

PPC stands for Pay Per Click - a popular advertising technique on the Internet. Found on websites, advertising networks, and especially on search engines, PPC advertising involves sponsored links that are typically in the form of text ads. These are usually placed close to search results, where an advertiser pays a particular amount to visitors who click on these links or banners and land on the advertiser's web page.

In essence, PPC advertising is all about bidding for the top or leading position on search engine results and listings. Advertisers do this by buying or bidding on keyword phrases that are relevant to their products or services - the higher the bid, the higher the spot on the search results, the more the people will find the ad (and click on it) to go to their websites (this is why some people call it "keyword auctioning"). Advertisers would then pay the bidding price every time a visitor clicks through the website.

PPC advertising is also known under the following names/variations:

• Pay per placement
• Pay per performance
• Pay per ranking
• Pay per position
• Cost per click (CPC)

PPC advertising is usually done with the following standard procedures:

1. Setting up an account and/or deposit funds.

2. Creating a keyword list.

3. Choosing (and setting up) an account with a PPC search engine.

4. Bidding on the ad placement, including the search result words or phrases.

5. Writing out an ad copy.

6. Setting up the 'landing pages' for your ads.

7. Placing the advertisement in the search engine.

There are many benefits to Pay Per Click advertising, making it an effective way of promoting a business 'online'. Some of them are listed below:

• Get launched immediately. PPC advertisements are implemented very quickly - they can go 'online' within an hour after winning the bid and paying for it.

• Obtain specific, pre-qualified, and quality traffic. PPC provides you with a quality or a well-targeted traffic. Visitors are narrowed down into 'qualified' people who are actually looking for specific products and/or services that you offer - those who are more likely to become a 'lead' (a convert) and complete a transaction (either by buying your product or subscribing to the service that you are offering.

• Widen your reach. PPC advertising provides additional traffic to your site, aside from the natural or "organic" search engines.

• Track your investment. PPC advertising makes use of a tracking system that will determine exactly who comes to the website and what they do once they arrive - the length of their stay on the site and the number of pages (including the actual pages) that they view. These are valuable tools in determining statistics such as return on investment (ROI), acquisition cost-per-visitor, and conversion rates (the percentage of visitors who are converted into customers or leads).

Below are some important things to consider when planning on a pay per click campaign:

1. Know your product. Take an inventory of the product and/or services that you have to offer (before anything else).

2. Stay within the budget. Determine your daily or monthly budget; and stay with it. This means keeping your budget in mind, avoiding bidding wars if possible.

3. Bid just right. Know how to bid right - a bid that is too high can exhaust all of your money, while a bid that is too low can make you lose that spot.

4. Watch the bottom line. Measure your profit margin against your spending or expenses. Know when to stop and terminate your PPC program - if you spend more on advertising but have little or no sales at all.

5. Find the right keywords. Decide which keyword phrases to opt and bid for. Do some keyword research, either by actually looking at existing search terms or with the use of online keyword suggestion tools, to know which terms are mostly used when searching for items that are related to your business. Focus on specific keywords, not on general ones.

6. Write effective ads. A good PPC ad is that which can persuade and move a searcher. There are several approaches to this:

• Discount offers
• Testimonials
• Celebrity/famous endorsers
• Money-back guarantees
• Free trials or sample offers
• Freebies
• Reverse psychology
• Major benefits ("Lose weight")
• Direct instructions ("Click here")

7. Maintain a professional-looking site. Your web content should be regularly updated and checked for spelling and grammatical errors. There should be no broken links or images. The website should be simple - designed in such a way that it will be easy for visitors to navigate and load. Include contact details to create a good impression among potential customers.

Done properly, PPC advertising can be an effective marketing tool that will maximize the return on your investment.

Female Hair Loss: What Causes It?

Contrary to what most men believe, women suffer from female hair loss, too. The truth is, women also experience depleted scalps. Female hair loss is very much a reality.
Female Pattern Baldness
In the medical field, female hair loss is most commonly known as female pattern baldness or androgenetic alopecia. Surprisingly it has been discovered that in America, the ratio of women who have it those who don't is 1:4. Although female hair loss can't kill in itself as a condition, it can be troubling.
Beauty magazines and the society in general always portray women as the gender with full heads and flowing beautiful hair. A woman who has a condition of female hair loss would therefore be seen as unusual.
Normal Hair Cycle
The normal hair cycle is characterized by hair resting and growing phases. In the anagen or growing phase, the hair develops healthily for a couple of years. After this, it will enter the telogen phase in which it will begin to rest for a number of months before falling off. Normally, 80%-90% of the hair is in the anagen phase, leaving only a comparatively small fraction in the telogen and shedding phase.
Women experiencing hair loss a lot more than 10% of their hair strands are in the telogen phase. In female hair loss, something disturbs the normal cycle.
Cause of Female Hair Loss
- The Hormones - Hormones play a big part in female hair loss. As some of us already know, both men and women have testosterone, a hormone which men normally have more of. In androgenetic alopecia, this hormone is acted upon by enzymes in the scalp that convert it into dihydrotestosteron (DHT).
The presence of DHT causes the hair follicles to shrink. This will eventually result to the loss of hair and the inability to grow new strands. In women, the action of DHT is regulated by the hormone estrogen. Female hair loss therefore normally occurs when a woman is in a state of hormonal imbalance. This can happen when a woman is in the menopausal stage or when she has just given birth. The condition can also strike when a woman is receiving hormonal treatment for an illness.
Pattern of Hair Loss
Female and male hair loss differ a lot in appearance. Men usually develop bald spots. We are very much familiar with men eventually losing all hair strands on a particular area such as the top of the scalp. Female hair loss however is different. Women usually only have diffuse balding. This means that there is an observed general thinning of the hair strands resulting in some parts of the scalp becoming more noticeable through the remaining strands. A woman who develops bald spots like men may have a more serious condition that deserves medical attention.
Hair Loss Solution
Female hair loss treatment products are now available. Now that you know what causes the condition, the best solution is to find a product that can provide extra nutritional support to the female scalp and hair. Nutrients that have been discovered to be good for female hair loss are vitamin B6, biotin and magnesium. Of course, it also makes sense to take care of your health through proper diet and good lifestyle habits.

Vitamins For Hair Loss - Can Vitamins Prevent Hair Loss

There has been a great debate that whether you eat has any effects on how well the hair will grow? It certainly makes the difference. Healthy hair growth needs a wide range of vitamins. The hair reflects the overall state of the health and if you are very engaged eating any healthy diet, and you face tremendous stressful life, the hair will reflect it too!

Let us look at some vitamins for hair loss

Before we jump to any tips on vitamins for hair loss, you must learn that Vitamin B Complex is very essential for healthy hair. Simply put, the best vitamins for hair growth include all B vitamins. They are generally found in whole grains, fresh fruits, brewer's yeast, egg, fishes, turkeys, meats, and dairy products like milk. Vitamin B complex is water-soluble that means they do not build up in the body as vitamin A does.

Tips for vitamins for hair loss-

· Para-aminobenzoic acid might prevent the hair from greying.

· Inositol can help preventing the hair fall.

· Niacin (vitamin B-3) can promote the blood circulation to the scalp and hence make hair healthy.

· Panthenol (vitamin B-5) can prevent hair loss and also assists in re-growing the hair.

· Biotin helps in preventing the hair from premature graying and is also important vitamin for preventing hair fall

· Vitamins B-6 and B-12 are also reported to play great role in healthy hair growth and strengthening the hair root.

· Vitamin E is also believed to prevent hair loss. This is because it is an antioxidant that stimulates the scalp as it increases the blood circulation. An increase in blood flow supplies more nutrients to the hair follicles and hence, it may grow healthy and stronger shiner hair. Most Americans consume adequate vitamin E in their diets, but still it is recommended to have plenty of green leafy vegetables, whole grain, and nuts.

· Vitamin A is essential for over-all good health and moreover, it is also very useful to hair follicles, as it keeps the hair root firmer and stronger. Vitamin A can be found in orange, red, and yellow vegetables, green leafy vegetables, eggs and liver. However, one has to be careful while taking vitamin A. this is because the body doesn't break Vitamin A down like it does to rest of the vitamins (like B complex). Vitamin A may accumulate in the body and it may also accumulate up to dangerous levels.

· Everyone knows about the benefits of vitamin C to treat common cold. But it is equally good for hair. Eating enough of citrus fruits, kiwi, strawberry, pineapple, tomato, and green and red pepper may make you enough to have ascorbic acid.

If You Smoke or drink, simply stop! This may cause hair fall and hence just quit. Also, in ancient science like Ayurveda, herbs such as amalaki, bhringaraja, brahmi etc are considered to be very beneficial in keeping the hair healthy. Probably, they may have essential and enough amounts of vitamins for hair loss.

Google Adsense Is The Easiest Money!

With Google Adsense, there is an enormous opportunity to earn an income from your web pages. Yet there is also the possibility of someone taking unfair advantage of this "easy money" process. If you think about it, some of the negative factors may force Google to introduce major changes. If that happens, people would have to return to the old ways of internet marketing; methods that are much harder for generating revenue online than Adsense.

For now, however, Google Adsense is with us. As long as there are people wanting to earn some easy cash online just using their talents, the future is looking good. Besides, with all the strict guidelines that Google has been enforcing with their Adsense affiliates, it would take awhile for the Adsense privileges to be so widely abused they would be terminated.

With so many people getting online and clicking away everyday, it's no wonder Google Adsense has become an instant hit.

Those who are new to this market might feel a little irked knowing that their homepage is buried somewhere in the little ads promoting other people's services. But when they realize that they are actually earning more money that way, doubts and skepticism are laid to rest.

Some successful webmaster and publishers are learning to blend together at least two major, and clever, factors to make money easier using Adsense.

1. They place Adsense links on pages that are producing little, or better yet, no profit. For instance, by placing Adsense on a free resources page, you will reduce the number of potential customers being lost to other sites. Tricky, but effective nonetheless.

2. They target high traffic pages on the website. If you check your logs, you will discover that many of your visitors use the free affiliate marketing resources and ebooks that you are offering on your site. This is an opportunity. In simple words, your ads can be presented on these pages where they'll work effectively by generating more clicks. This means income for you.

When working effectively, these factors are actually a good source of producing revenue from a high traffic page. Many people are using this strategy to pick up some extra cash with Adsense. It is also especially rewarding for informational sites with a lot of content that focus their efforts on delivering powerful affiliate link free material to their visitors. Now they can gain a monetary return on their services.

With so many people trying to make easy money with Adsense, it isn't surprising that Google is trying to update and polish their Adsense procedures and try to maintain a good image.

So there is a possibility of adding a 2nd affiliate tier in Adsense. With so many people involved in Adsense now, and still more entering this line of marketing, there is no doubt many improvements will emerge. Imagine the smiles on the faces of the webmasters and publishers all around the world if they can sign up sub-affiliates and double or even triple the amount that they are already earning!

One particularly handy money-making feature that is already available with Adsense is the ability to filter out up to 200 urls. This gives webmasters the option of blocking low paying advertising and competitors from their pages. Naturally, webmasters will keep elements that are advantageous and discard those that seem less attractive.

Recently, Google Adsense has dominated forums, discussions and newsletters all over the Internet. Already, there are tales of fabulous riches to be had and millions made by those who are just working from home. It seems that Google Adsense is beginning to dominate internet marketing and is now considered the easiest way to making money online.

The key to success with Adsense is the placing of ads on pages that are receiving high traffic for high demand keywords. The higher the cost-per-click to the advertiser, the more you will receive per click from your site. Obviously, it does not pay to target low cost-per-click keywords and place them on pages that do not receive hits. Marketers are refining their strategies to enable them to receive higher paying advertising on their active web pages.

How Adsense Tracker Helps You in Earning?

The importance of adsense tracker you should not be contented with the reports you are getting out of search engines about your adsense. Although they can tell you what is happening, they do not really tell you how you can still develop these ads to get more money out of them.

Adsense tracker can do all this and more for you. Compared to search engine reports, what you will get from adsense trackers will help you to improve the income you are already getting. Adsense trackers help you and your site grow and not always stagnant.

Adsense tracker:

1. Helps you suggest which keywords and search engines to use to make more money.

Click thru rates are being broken down by adsense trackers into two categories; search engine keywords and the search engines themselves. Once this is done, you will have no more problems in choosing which keywords to use more in a specific engine.

Adsense tracker can also help you in selecting the sites that you can link to. They will choose quality and high traffic sites from among the many existing ones.

2. Tells you the kind of content you should be creating.

Adsense tracker will be the one doing all the searching through sites and contents that are getting clicked and visited more. It will zero down on the sites that have contents that people are looking for.

When you have more of the topic or content people are searching for, you will be on your way to generating more money than you used to have.

3. Shares with you the ads that are clicked through most often.

As with contents, visitors also have reasons for clicking on an ad that is displayed on a certain page. Adsense tracker will help you understand what is there in these ads that attract the visitor's attention.

With the many adsense already out there, you will need all your creative juices to come up with something that will get the attention of your visitors and fast.

4. Will suggest what colors and ad formats work effectively.

The appearance of your site is as important as the contents you put into them. Since it is the first thing that your visitor will see when they come into your site, you may want to project a good first impression that will last.

Adsense tracker will tell you the format and colors that the more effective sites are using. It will tell you how you can use these colors to get the traffic that you needed. Getting more visitors into your site can only more income coming to you.

5. Gives you real-time statistics.

Some search engine takes time before information is updated. This is not the same thing with adsense trackers. They can give you real-time and instant updates whatever time or day it is.

Every second counts when you are looking out for the most important data. This means that no time should be wasted just waiting for some details to be checked and reported to you.

6. Checks as many domains as possible.

Not all domains can be accessed by search engines. And some takes time before getting connected to. Using adsense tracker, you can have access to as many domains as you possibly can, and all this in the shortest possible time.

All these are good enough reasons why you should go and get yourself an adsense tracker today.

SEO: Google's Next Big Move

By David Leonhardt

(Will your website be ready, or will you be playing catch-up six months too late?

November 2003 might go down in history as the month that Google shook a lot of smug webmasters and search engine optimization (SEO) specialists from the apple tree. But more than likely, it was just a precursor of the BIG shakeup to come.

Google touts highly its secret PageRank algorithm. Although PageRank is just one factor in choosing what sites appear on a specific search, it is the main way that Google determines the "importance" of a website.

In recent months, SEO specialists have become expert at manipulating PageRank, particularly through link exchanges.

There is nothing wrong with links. They make the Web a web rather than a series of isolated islands. However, PageRank relies on the naturally "democratic" nature of the web, whereby webmasters link to sites they feel are important for their visitors. Google rightly sees link exchanges designed to boost PageRank as stuffing the ballot box.

I was not surprised to see Google try to counter all the SEO efforts. In fact, I have been arguing the case with many non-believing SEO specialists over the past couple months. But I was surprised to see the clumsy way in which Google chose to do it.

Google targeted specific search terms, including many of the most competitive and commercial terms. Many websites lost top positions in five or six terms, but maintain their positions in several others. This had never happened before. Give credit to Barry Lloyd of SearchEngineGuide.com for cleverly uncovering the process.

For Google, this shakeup is just a temporary fix. It will have to make much bigger changes if it is serious about harnessing the "democratic" nature of the Web and neutralizing the artificial results of so many link exchanges.

Here are a few techniques Google might use (remember to think like a search engine):

  1. Google might start valuing inbound links within paragraphs much higher than links that stand on their own. (For all we know, Google is already doing this.) Such links are much less likely to be the product of a link exchange, and therefore more likely to be genuine "democratic" votes.

  2. Google might look at the concentration of inbound links across a website. If most inbound links point to the home page, that is another possible indicator of a link exchange, or at least that the site's content is not important enough to draw inbound links (and it is content that Google wants to deliver to its searchers).

  3. Google might take a sample of inbound links to a domain, and check to see how many are reciprocated back to the linking domains. If a high percentage are reciprocated, Google might reduce the site's PageRank accordingly. Or it might set a cut-point, dropping from its index any website with too many of its inbound links reciprocated.

  4. Google might start valuing outbound links more highly. Two pages with 100 inbound links are, in theory, valued equally, even if one has 20 outbound links and the other has none. But why should Google send its searchers down a dead-end street, when the information highway is paved just as smoothly on a major thoroughfare?

  5. Google might weigh a website's outbound link concentration. A website with most outbound links concentrated on just a few pages is more likely to be a "link-exchanger" than a site with links spread out across its pages.

Google might use a combination of these techniques and ones not mentioned here. We cannot predict the exact algorithm, nor can we assume that it will remain constant. What we can do is to prepare our websites to look and act like a website would on a "democratic" Web as Google would see it.

For Google to hold its own against upstart search engines, it must deliver on its PageRank promise. Its results reflect the "democratic" nature of the Web. Its algorithm must prod webmasters to give links on their own merit. That won't be easy or even completely possible. And people will always find ways to turn Google's algorithm to their advantage. But the techniques above can send the Internet a long way back to where Google promises it will be.

The time is now to start preparing your website for the changes to come.

Seo Basic

How Search Engines Connect Sellers and Buyers
by David Leonhardt

Maggie knows how to find what she wants. She lets her fingers do the walking - not in the Yellow Pages, but at Google.com. She wants to learn about bread baking, and you have just written Bread Baking Made Simple, and you sell some great baking tools. The good news is the Google and other search engines exist for one simple reason: to help Maggie find your website.

Google will show Maggie 534,000 resources on "bread baking". Unless she fails to find what she wants on the first page, or top 10 results, she will never find your website listed 124th in the results. (Actually, if she does not find what she wants in the top twenty or thirty results, she is likely to refine her search to "easy bread baking" or "home bread baking").

How do you get into the top 10 results so Maggie can find your website? You might have heard a lot about "search engine optimization" and "ranking analysis" and "algorithms". It all sounds very complex, but it really works on a simple 1 - 2 - 3 principle.

  1. A search engine will show Maggie only resources (websites) it has on record. So make sure to submit your site to the key search engines and directories. You do not need to hire somebody who will charge you big dollars to do this. Nor should you fall for any of the auto-submit software or services. This should be done by hand, and anybody can do it. You can do it yourself.

  2. The search engine will rank highest those websites it feels are most "important". This means you have to show that your website is most important. There are a few simple things you can do. First, make sure you have content. Text content equals importance on the Internet. Links, both coming in and going out, are key. Connectivity equals importance on the Internet. Get listed in the major directories (DMOZ.com, Yahoo.com, Zeal.com, JoeAnt.com, etc.), as this also is a measure of importance.

  3. The search engine will show Maggie the most "relevant" high-ranking resources. Google might rank http://TheHappyGuy.com relatively very high, but it is totally irrelevant to a search for bread baking. How does a search engine know which websites are most relevant for Maggie's search? By the number of times "bread baking" shows up in text on your web page. By the variety of ways it shows up on your page. By number web pages you link to and that link to you with the words "bread baking" included.
Are you ready to roll? Possibly. Some of this you can easily do yourself. But there are three places that are worth spending money to help all the Maggies out there find your website and your book.

The first is choosing the right keywords. It might look simple, but "bread baking" might not even be the best keyword phrase to focus on. It might be "easy bread baking" or "home bread baking". The most searched terms might not be the best, nor the term with the least competition.

The second is to prepare a link strategy. The "link exchange" pages that are getting more popular each day are also becoming less effective each day. Here are just a few of the linking factors that will affect whether Maggie discovers your book:

  • The total number of incoming and outgoing links
  • The importance of the sites you link to and from
  • The relevancy of the sites you link to and from
  • Which pages on their sites and on yours are being linked
  • What you include in the incoming and outgoing links
  • Where on the page the links are placed
  • How many links are on those pages
  • How many pages are linked to or have outgoing links
  • The ratio of links to content on the pages involved
You can implement the strategy yourself, but it is worth hiring somebody to put it together for you. Ask the person what factors she would consider when building a strategy for you. If she does not mention several of the above, your money is better spent elsewhere.

The third place to invest is to have somebody knowledgeable review your html code. Chances are that you have missed numerous opportunities to let the search engines know your website is relevant, and possibly some opportunities to show it is important.

Advertising Tip

Advertising Tip - Advertising the Why not the What by Aaron Siegel

Advertising is one of the most important key roles in marketing yet not enough marketing strategy is put into the action of creating an advertisement.

You might want to reanalyze, what is advertising? Advertising in simple terms is sharing your company's marketing message through various medias. Without advertising many of the products in the world would have a very hard time being discovered and businesses would have to settle for a lot less in customers and sales. Advertising is both information and inspiration depending on you create it. In your advertisement you try to include your inspiration for the products you offer. You try to inform the potential buyers of your product and price based offer.

What your marketing message is and what is perceived as the message can be the matter of two different perceptions. For instance, you may be advertising the value and benefit of your specialized shoes but the consumer may only see a shoe sale. What could cause this to happen where your inspiration only equates to "another sale" to your prospective buyer?

A shoe sale may be great to some, but a sale is just any other sale and there is nothing stopping one consumer from shopping at another location with a sale of the same goods or services if the message conveys just a sale in the consumer's eyes. You need to find a way that shares your enthusiasm with the consumer to build a rewarding customer experience before the consumer ever is your customer. You need to make the consumer want only your shoes, not just because it is on sale.

If you haven't caught on, in this article we will hypothetically be a shoe store which obviously will be selling shoes. We will not go into the specifics of the shoe but rather the advertisement of shoes. I just had to make it clear that the shoe store is only an example. This article applies to all businesses.

The case with many advertisements these days with many businesses is a phenomenon called advertising myopia. Advertising myopia is when you focus more on advertising your product than other possible elements that can benefit a customer. If the overall benefit and value of your product is never properly conveyed in your marketing message you end up with just a product or sale being advertised, nothing more and nothing less. Not too exciting is it? There are plenty of shoe stores with plenty of sales, simple as that.

Before coming up with an advertisement, start to think what it is that makes your product(s) special to the consumer than just a price. It doesn't matter if the brand is established, there is no reason to get lazy and leave it to the brand to sell. An established brand will have many retail outlets other than yours anyhow? It is up to you to make a convincing and compelling advertisement to help your business.

Ask yourself some questions before creating an advertisement such as how do your shoes feel to your customers? Are they made to be comfortable? What is their durability? Are they made to make someone feel more appealing? How might a good shoe make your customers life better than it already is, better sports performance, less shock?

I am not saying toss the promotional sales pitch out the door if you have one. What I am saying here is don't forget to tell your consumer market what benefit there is to having such a sale on your product. In other words detail the benefits. It is through adding the benefits into your advertising message you display a value. The value will create far more than just the intended sale, you will create a rewarding purchase for the consumer which in turn can equal into more benefits such as buzz and customer loyalty.

Coming up with an advertisement that can conjure more emotion than just an impulse sale is an advertisement that does more for your budget and will create much more of a reward for both you and your customers. Good luck in your advertising efforts and may you succeed in whatever you try to sell.

PayPerClick

PayPerClick Explained by Susan Coils

One of the fastest ways to generate traffic is through the PayPerClick (PPC) medium. Nothing else will give you a faster response rate so you can find out what works and what doesn't.

However, for the unitiated, ppc can prove to be very costly and give you a zero return for your money.

PPC is a strategy I have only recently started using. But before I created my first campaign I made sure I checked out as much information as I could. As someone who positively hates to spend money unless it's absolutely necessary, I wasn't about to jump into this particular water unprepared!

Google can be very unforgiving if you don't know how to set up your ads properly. Instead of paying 2cents a click, you can easily find yourself paying $2 instead. Ouch! That really hurts your pocket.

Worse than that is the fact you can spend your time writing and rewriting ads and not spending anything, because your ads simply don't appear anywhere. Not much chance of a click there then?

Now there are a host of books and manuals out there that you can easily get your hands on. By far the most popular is Perry Marshall's guide. You can check it out at his site and I highly recommend you sign up for his 5day course. Totally free and well worth the investment of your time.

Perry Marshall

If you want to dive straight in and can't wait the 5 day period, let me recommend the source I used. There is a great little place that not too many people know about called Seduce AdWords and it is awesome.

Step by step, you will be taken by the hand through every single thing you need to know to set up your ppc campaign. Extremely readable, easy to follow, and absolutely the best resource I have found for those looking to set up their first ppc campaign.

You can have your campaign up, running and making you money by this time tomorrow! Check out Seduce Adwords now.

Don't be tempted to start with a high budget! Remember, Google is very unforgiving if you get it wrong. Set your budget low to begin with and increase as you test and tweak your ads.

Once you know which ads are recieving the most clicks for the least cost, then you are ready to move up and increase your budget.

And if budgeting is a problem for you (isn't it always?) then check out the revolutionary new 'Building On A Budget' strategy that is set to be released later this month.

How To Use Advertising

How To Use Advertising by Alyice Edrich

How important is advertising? It can make or break your business. People need to know you exist, what you have to offer, and how they can get what you have.

No business can succeed without proper ad placement. Advertising is very important to the success of any business venture. If you don't have the money to advertise in a national publication, advertise locally. If you can't afford to advertise locally, think outside the box. How can you advertise your business inexpensively, yet still show yourself as a "professional"?

A one-time placement in your local newspaper, on television, on the radio, or in a national publication will be a total waste of your time, money, and effort. Consumers need to see your product a minimum of 7 to 10 times before they will even consider ordering your product or service. Your best bet would be to purchase a business-size card ad, with two or three colors, a graphic, and a bit of information about your product or service. Advertise in the same publication for six months. If after three months the advertisement doesn't trigger any new sales or clients, change the ad, but keep it in the same publication.

Last year, we had a new coffee shop open up in town. Though many coffee shops have come and gone, this one picked up gusto and earned enough revenue to open a second shop in the next town. How did the owners prevail? They knew how to advertise their business. They placed the same advertisement in the same spot, in the same paper, every weekâ€"without fail. And they learned to use their public relations skills to gain free radio time as well as television time.

When sitting down to develop your advertisement, keep these things in mind: What advertisements do you read over and over again, even though you pretty much know what the ad is going to say? What is it about that ad that continues to capture your attention? Which advertisements do you automatically gravitate to when reading the paper? What is it about those ads that draw your attention to them? • What do you want your advertisement to do for your? Promote your business? Offer a sale? Inform the public? • What is your product or service's biggest seller? Should that be mentioned in your advertisement? Don't crowd your advertisement with tons of colors, words, or pictures. Less is truly more. • Place a "call to action" in your advertisement...call this number, visit our store, sign up for ____, or visit our website to download free ____. Finally, remember that you can't always rely on the results of others as to a "good place" to advertise your business. If your business isn't geared towards the readers of a certain publication, your results will not come close to that of the person who recommended that publication in the first place
